Thank you to those who jumped on the giving page last week to help with the finances required for this trip!
I’m still fundraising! If you do not currently support me, or have yet to join my team, now would be a wonderful time to start! If you do support me, please consider raising your monthly donation or sending an additional one-time donation. All gifts, big and small are appreciated and tax deductible!
I HAVE RECEIVED MY TOURIST VISA TO ENTER PAPUA NEW GUINEA – yay!!
That was quite the emotional journey, ha-ha! Now, I am waiting for Monday to roll around to receive the full confirmation of my Australian visa. Their most recent communication says, “We confirm that we’ve received your full information and we will send you the E-visa within 3 days (Sat, Sun excluded). Please kindly wait.” That was Wednesday. I want it in my hands! I’m waiting (smile!)
Today I will share more about helping with the Bible dedication and what that entails.
Martha has asked me to oversee all of the visitors from arrival to departure. This can be quite the adventure, but I am really excited to do it! I’ll be communicating with visitors as soon as their itineraries and contact information is provided. I will send each a note telling about their accommodations in Madang and what their kitchens are stocked with.
I’ll meet/greet visitors at the airport and make sure they get a good meal and see the town. Their comfort and itineraries are my main objective!
As I wrote in my last update, I’ll be packing up my flat when I first arrive. I cannot wrap my mind around exactly what is there. I can only imagine the emotions I will experience. I fully planned to come back to PNG. My sudden address change hit me by complete surprise after I got to Ohio. I am glad to be so close and be able to interact with my family so intimately, but I need to close the chapter of my seven-year life among my precious Papua New Guineans.
Last week I shared the video of the full Aruamu Bible dedication.
Today I’ll share the very first dedication I attended. I had only been in the country for 7 months. View the video below. It was like stepping into National Geographic!!
And – guess who is in the background taking pictures at their dedication drama? SOOO incredibly cool!
Next week I will tell you what it can look like to purchase the supplies and food items for the village. My sweet friend/teammate Sarah coined a phrase that I really like! She said, “I used to make a list when I was going to the store. Now when I need an item, I make a list of stores.” This is incredibly accurate for Madang shopping, ha-ha!!! I once waited over a year to get 7UP! If you see something you want/need – buy it now! There is no guarantee it will be available next time – or if it will be a year or more before you see it again, ha-ha! We just, “adjust” to that sort of living. I learned to embrace it.
