I went to the haus sik this morning because it was “cold” and rainy (about 81 degrees). I wanted to deliver the heavy blankets I’d just received. The mamas were SO appreciative!
I went in to talk to Rosemary (the nurse who originally told me that the mamas need underclothes) and see if they needed formula. I was shocked to see these brand new machines!! Here is Rosemary showing me their new miracle gifts! I am so excited. See this tiny little boy? He was born at 810 grams (not even 2#!!)!! Mama gave birth to him at 6 months pregnant. He has gained every day since he was born (on the 14th). I forgot how much Rosemary said he weighs today. I will update this when she sends a text back to me with the info – she answered the baby is up to 1075 (2.4#) grams as of 23 November!!
The other picture is of a precious mama whose baby has dwarfism. She was born at 7 months. She is struggling a little, but they think she’ll be ok. I pray she is! The mama is so sweet!! She is proud of her little newborn. We talked a little. Please pray for them.
Rosemary said that they need formula…. so I left and went and bought more panties and 2 cans of formula and went back. Then Rosemary and I sat down and talked heart to heart. She loves these mamas and babies SO MUCH! She has worked with them for 40 years now! She cried when she told me about Dulcy leaving there early with Baby Jeni. We rejoiced together when she told me of a papa who wanted his wife and preemie baby to leave early, and she was able to help them understand that they needed just 9 more days in the haus sik before they went home. They waited and their baby looked so much better (at 1 month) and was able to nurse. He told her that she had given him a gift of their child living and thanked God for her. She just beamed with delight!!
Then we talked about the lack of good food for the mamas who have to stay long periods for their babies. I ended up leaving for the second time, only to go to the store and get some rice, tin fish, salt, flavor cubes and an onion. I also got some sugar, a sprite to make the nurses happy…. and went back for my third visit today!
Anyway, I wanted to share this with you and also to tell you that the fans that are over the mamas are now back in working order! It was nearly bearable today, ha!
Thank you SO MUCH for helping us to help the mamas here! I appreciate you SO!!
