I am booked to leave America 9 July – and arrive in Madang 12 July!
This will be the last update from America… this time.
I’m still fundraising! Your contribution will help me assist with the Bible dedication for the Apal people (a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!!) and “finish my time” in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
If you do not currently support me, or have yet to join my team, now would be a wonderful time to start! If you do support me, please consider raising your monthly donation or sending an additional one-time donation. All gifts, big and small are appreciated and tax deductible! Click here to give.
Let me know if you want to be on my “Signal” prayer group. I am happy to add you! Please sign up and/or “join my group” here.
SOON I will be looking out of a helicopter at this (Martha’s) river!
My bags are all packed to capacity – which includes 37# of baby items from the Vista Bloom Store, and 36# of Apal T-shirts for their dedication.
Below is my itinerary. Please pray for me there – with my 120# of cargo, and back – with less than anticipated – due to the cost of carrying a second suitcase).
I arrive back in Dallas a couple of days before our annual department and PBT wide meetings are scheduled to begin. Please pray that I will get rested up and not feel too jet-lagged before the meetings begin. My itinerary also includes 3 full days of debriefing/downtime with my friend Brenda, who ministers in Trauma Healing (among other things). Please pray that I finish my time in PNG in both physically and emotionally healthy ways. Hopefully this will be a sweet time of refreshment before heading back to the busyness of America. There are tremendous differences in the ways of America and that of PNG (or any Third World Country, I suppose).
Recently I came across a sticky note in my Bible from when I was brand new in Papua New Guinea. It was labeled:
“New Ways I Need Christ.”
- Number one listed is – safety. There is no 911.
- I need His eyes to see, and His heart to understand.
- One very important truth about Christ is that He is ever present. Seriously, all.the.time.
- Another important truth is that we all need Him. Every.one.of.us.
- Strengthen me and keep my heart steadfast after God.
- I understand a deeper urgency for all people to know/follow after God.
- God is daily transforming my mind, drawing me into deeper relationship with Him, so that others will know Him as He moves through me.
Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for all Papua New Guineans – that their deepest desire is to know God and serve Him.
- Pray that I will lead in a godly manner; with dignity and the love of Christ pouring through me.
- Safety at night – your daily prayers cover our nights (because of the time difference – for instance, Ohio is 14 hours behind PNG).
- There is a tremendous difference in daily life between America and Papua New Guinea.
- Pray for clarity of thought in moments of fast decisions.
How can you show your support?
- Email me telling me that you are praying.
- Become a Prayer Warrior for not only me, but all missionaries everywhere.
- Join Signal and receive my prayer requests from now until I return to America here.
Thank you so much for enabling me to help Martha with the Apal Bible dedication in Angguna, Papua New Guinea on August 1st – and to officially “finish” my full-time service/finish with my teammates/family/friends in Madang. No doubt it will be bittersweet. Thank you for supporting me financially and for praying. I’m very grateful!
