… and I feel really good about it 🙂
I have had several people asking how the trip to Florida went. Well… I guess I should just copy what Jodi wrote from my car in the beginning of our trip so you can get the feel of it:
“Breakfast @ 8 a.m. to get an early start – ha! Jan and Bea didn’t show up until 8:30… 9:50 we left First Watch headed to get gas at Shell. ‘The look’ – Jodi is thinking the gas tank is on the other side but no, it was much worse – NO KEY TO THE GAS TANK! So it begins… – ‘call to Jennie because she has my key.’ We head to Plain City to meet Jennie.
Sharon: That’s not the key.
Jennie: Well it’s the only key you gave me.
Sharon: Oh no, I must have given it to Stephanie!
Frantic calls to Stephanie placed. As well as to Stephanie’s husband. Gas station attendant called her manager to see if he knew how to get the gas cap off and he recommended that we go to the service center next door. A patron recommended that we go to Schrock Automotive. We finally made it on the highway. We were so busy recapping (I think that was when Jodi was laughing at me)… and we missed the exit to 33 and we had to turn around.
We haven’t left Columbus yet and it’s almost noon. Now we’re on 33… in comes a call to Jodi.
Jennie: good luck; you’re gonna need it!”
Thanks Jen! 🙂
Here are pictures of us sporting some cool lookin’ blue sunglasses and one of Jodi loitering at the Plain City Library waiting for Jennie and the wrong key. Other than the rough start to our trip, it was perfect. We spent the night in North Carolina with her wonderful friend Jill and her husband. What a neat couple! We were well fed and slept peacefully.
Update from Florida: My mom is healing well. She is doing a LOT better now that I have been here for a few days. She has occupational and physical therapy quite a few times a week and it is clearly helping. She is determined to get better! She just runs out of get up and go too quickly. Thank you for your continued prayers!
I plan to leave Florida the end of this week and ride/drive with Jim and Joni to Dallas to begin our 4 months of residency at Pioneer Bible Translators. I made flight arrangements to spend Christmas in Columbus before leaving or Papua New Guinea in January. I am very excited to be there for the Vista Christmas program!!!
Here is a fun story written by Eunice in Papua New Guinea. I really look forward to getting to know this dear lady… and attempting snorkeling with her!
Prayer requests:
- Continued healing and good health for my mom and the rest of my family and me
- “Easy” transition from Florida to Dallas (away from family)
- This journey to be a blessing that draws all of us together ~ closer to each other ~ but more importantly ~ closer to God
Praises:
- I completed my Mission Theology class
- Our safe trip to Florida and Jodi’s safe return to Ohio
- Safety for Jim and Joni in their travels and PRAISE that their house SOLD!
- Thank you for your love and prayers. I am so happy that you have chosen to go on this journey with me! Let’s do what we can together to draw others into His saving grace.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16
